About

Anthony Dru Dunlap is a psychedelic surrealism artist and musician. Many of his pieces are painted with mushroom spores. He collects spore prints, mixes the spores with water, and uses them like watercolor, often finishing a piece with white gel pen. Dark cubensis spores give the deep browns. Reishi spores give a reddish tone.

He also paints in oil and mixed media, makes spore print moon phases, keychains and stickers, and shows at mushroom festivals around the Pacific Northwest.

One of his paintings was used on the cover of the Journal of Electrocardiology in 2024 (the story). Shamanic Tales Records has animated his work for their music.

Calling himself a “two-dimensional sculptor,” he creates vibrant, dreamlike pieces where mushrooms dance, play music, and glow under crescent moons. And here’s the magic: he doesn’t just paint mushrooms, he paints with them.
